Desktop Notes

Go to the Desktop Notes Function Module

You can go to the Desktop Notes function module by clicking the 'Desktop Notes' command on the 'Go' menu, or by clicking the 'Desktop Notes' button on the navigation panel in the main window.

Navigation Panel

Desktop Notes can be managed by group. You can click 'New Group' on the 'Actions' menu to create a new desktop note group. 'Other Desktop Notes' is the default group in EfficientPIM. If a desktop note does not belong to any custom group, it will belong to the 'Other Desktop Notes'' group. You can not delete or rename the 'Other Desktop Notes'' group, or add a subgroup for it.
If you click the name of a group, desktop notes belonging to this group appear in the desktop note list on the right.
When you right-click the name of a group on the group list, you can rename or delete this group.
Drag and drop is supported when you manage groups. You can drag 'Group A' to 'Group B' to make it a subgroup of 'Group B'; and you can also drag 'Group A' to 'All Desktop Notes' or 'Other Desktop Notes' to make it a normal group (i.e. a group that is not a subgroup of any other group).

Desktop Note Display List

The desktop note display list is on the right side of the main window. When you right-click the list, a popup menu appears. You can double-click a desktop note to open it in the edit desktop note window. If you double-click some blank space in the list, the window to add a new desktop note will display.
If you press 'Ctrl+N', the window to add a new desktop note will appear; when you press 'Ctrl+O', the window to edit the currently selected desktop note will appear; and when you press 'Ctrl+D', the currently selected desktop note will be deleted and moved to the Recycle Bin.

By default, desktop notes are displayed on the desktop. You can click the 'Show on desktop' check box to toggle.

If you want to import a text file into the desktop note, please click 'Import New Desktop Note from File' on the 'Actions' menu.
If you want to export the content of the currently selected desktop note to a text file, please click 'Export Desktop Note to File' on the 'Actions' menu.

You can manage the grouping of desktop notes by drag and drop. You can drag a desktop note in the list directly into a group in the navigation panel on the left.

Add New Desktop Note and Edit Desktop Note

The window to add a new desktop note and to edit a desktop note is the same.

You can add attachment(s) or file link(s) to a desktop note.
If you right-click the text box displaying related contacts at the bottom left of the new desktop note window, you can check the details of the related contacts.

When you are writing a desktop note, you can press 'Shift+Ctrl+S' at any time to save this item without closing the edit window. You can press 'Ctrl+S' to save the content of the open item and close the edit window.
